Review of Shang-Chi TV Spots Tease Ten Rings as the Strongest MCU Weapon

With only less than two weeks left before the highly-anticipated debut of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Rings, Marvel Studios has dropped three new TV spots for its first Asian superhero-led movie. All new Shang-Chi TV spots feature lots of new action-packed footage, with the first one teasing that the Ten Rings is stronger than all original Avengers including Thor and Hulk.

In addition, the final trailer has just been released, providing us more footage of the estranged father-and-son relationship of Shang-Chi and the Mandarin. The film is currently slated to arrive in theaters on Friday, September 3.

In Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the titular hero must confront the past he thought he left behind when he is drawn into the web of the mysterious Ten Rings organization. Marvel Studios’ first Asian superhero-led movie will be led by Canadian actor Simu Liu (Kim’s Convenience) as the Master of Kung-Fu, Shang-Chi.

Joining Liu are fellow MCU newcomers Awkwafina as Katy, Tony Leung as Wenwu/ The Mandarin, Meng’er Zhang as Xialing, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Ronny Chieng, and Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist.

The film will also feature MCU alums Ben Kingsley (Iron Man 3), Benedict Wong (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan, which will mark her second role within the MCU following her appearance as a different character in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay he co-wrote with Dave Callaham and Andrew Lanham. It hails from producers Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz, with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, and Charles Newirth serving as executive producers.
