Review of Emily Blunt Leads Kate Warne Movie From Amazon & Dwayne Johnson

It has been two weeks since Jungle Cruise had made its debut in theaters and on Disney+, and now it looks like Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson have finally found their newest project together. According to Deadline, Blunt’s Ledbury Productions and Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions are currently in the process of developing a brand new movie about Kate Warne, the first woman detective at the Pinkerton Detective Agency.

Following an intense bidding war, Amazon Studios has successfully won the rights to the project, with Blunt attached for the leading role and Johnson set to only serve as a producer. This marks the duo’s second project in development as it was previously confirmed last year that they’re set to reunite in Netflix’s superhero movie titled Ball and Chain. However, after over a year, there are still no updates revealed regarding the status of the said Netflix project.

Described as an action-adventure, the untitled movie will center around Kate Warne, a real-life female Sherlock Holmes in a male-dominated industry whose singular sleuthing skills paved the way for future women in law enforcement and forever changed how detective work was done. In 1856, she became the first female detective in the Pinkerton Detective Agency as well as in the United States. Her most notable detective achievement was uncovering the Baltimore Plot to assassinate president-elect Abraham Lincoln in 1861.

The project will be written and executive produced by Gustin Nash. It will be produced by Johnson, Hiram Garcia, and Dany Garcia through their Seven Bucks Productions along with Blunt for Ledbury Productions, and Kristina Sorensen.
