It is not easy for any youth to clear competitive exams. For this, they have to make many sacrifices along with years of hard work. On the other hand, if you are preparing for the UPSC Civil Services Exam, then your hard work and difficulty doubles. It is difficult to even imagine preparing for this exam by staying in the village and cracking it. But going a step ahead of these fantasies, a girl from rural environment broke all the pre-set parameters about this exam by cracking the UPSC exam. This girl proved this fact with her hard work and dedication that, if you are determined once, you can make your dream come true.

We are talking about Surbhi Gautam, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, who overcame odd circumstances and secured All India 50th rank in Civil Services in the year 2016.

Know about Surbhi Gautam

Surbhi was born to a lawyer-teacher couple in the small village of Amdara in Satna (Madhya Pradesh). Like other children of the family, Surbhi was also admitted to the government school in the village for primary education. It was a Hindi medium school. Surbhi was very quick to read since childhood, but for most of the family members this was not a special thing. In Madhya Pradesh schools, there are board exams in class five as well.

When the fifth result came, the teacher called Surbhi and patted her on the back and said, 'You have got 100% marks in maths. I haven't seen anyone get a hundred out of a hundred in the board exam till date. You will do very well in future.' These were magic words for Surbhi, which lingered in her mind for life. After this Surbhi became more serious towards studies. Meanwhile, her joints started to ache every now and then, but she kept ignoring it. Gradually the pain spread all over the body, and one day she was out of bed.

had to deal with rheumatic fever

When there was constant pain in Surbhi's body, her parents went to Jabalpur with Surbhi. There the specialist doctor said, Surbhi has 'rheumatic fever'. This disease damages the heart and in some cases even leads to death. The parents were shocked to hear this. The doctor advised Surbhi to inject penicillin every 15 days. There was no skilled doctor in the village, so every 15th day, Surbhi had to go to Jabalpur. But even in the midst of poor health and deprivation, Surbhi did not turn her back on her studies.

During this, Surbhi Gautam fought her battle on many fronts simultaneously. Surbhi got 100% marks in the 10th board along with maths in science. He was counted among the brightest students of the state. It was written in the news that appeared in the newspapers at that time that Surbhi wanted to become a collector, while Surbhi had no such thoughts in her mind till that time. However, due to these news, he was inclined towards UPSC.

English became the biggest difficulty after reaching college from school

After getting good marks in 12th also, he cleared a state engineering entrance exam and took admission in Electronics and Communications from an engineering college in Bhopal. She was the best student of her school while studying in government school. When Surbhi left school and reached college, her world was completely changed there. She had been a Hindi medium student and most of the children who came here were from English medium.

In such a situation, she became a victim of inferiority complex in the beginning. Till yesterday the girl who used to sit on the first seat in her school. Now she was sitting back. He felt bad that no one even paid attention to him. But Surbhi is determined to come out of her inferiority complex and establish herself once again. He started working on his English.

Surbhi used to talk in English even in her dreams

Troubled by the English language, Surbhi started talking to herself in English to improve her English. Surbhi used to memorize at least 10 word meanings every day. Surbhi used to write word meanings on the walls and repeat it several times a day. She used to memorize the phrases and words heard from anywhere and work to improve her English. Surbhi started dreaming in English. Everyone used to talk in English in his dreams. During this, English made such an impact in her mind that she started talking to herself in English.

As a result, Surbhi topped the first semester of her graduation and was also given the College Chancellor's Award for this. He kept himself away from external greed while working hard on himself. It was always in his mind that he had to fulfill his dreams. During this time, she did not go to see movies or roam like her other friends. Gave her full time to her studies and made up her mind that she would move around only after something was done.

Surbhi cracked all the exams

During the placement in college, Surbhi got a job in TCS company, but she did not join. After that he continuously participated in many competitive exams like BARC, ISRO, GTE, SAIL, MPPSC, SSC, FCI and Delhi Police and cracked them all. At the same time, in the year 2013, Surbhi also passed the IES exam. In this his All India First Rank came. But Surbhi had set her goal to become an IAS. So, she continued her preparation and in the year 2016, Surbhi secured 50th rank in her first attempt in the UPSC exam which is considered the toughest in the country. While making the candidates preparing for this exam aware, Surbhi says that no language is a wall, if you are determined then it will be in your control.
