Yesterday, producer Amy Pascal delighted fans with some hopeful news by confirming that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are indeed continuing their partnership following Spider-Man: No Way Home, with a brand new Tom Holland-led Spider-Man trilogy currently in development.

Now, in an interview with the French talk show Quotidien, the 25-year-old British actor has finally addressed the new Spider-Man trilogy reports, suggesting that negotiations and plans for the said projects are potentially not finalized yet. However, despite giving an understandably vague answer, he still went on to express his excitement for the beloved character’s bright future.

“Listen, all I’ll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about,” Holland said. “I don’t know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean. But it looks like it’s an incredibly bright future ahead, and as I’ve said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me.”

Pascal’s confirmation actually comes on the heels of recent circulating rumors that both mega studios already have plans for the future of the fan-favorite hero. This reportedly includes another MCU trilogy, and two Disney+ animated series following the recent announcement of Disney+’s Spider-Man: Freshman Year which will serve as a prequel.

In addition, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that despite Pascal’s recent statement regarding the potential new trilogy, there are reportedly “no official plans for a trilogy at this phase,” but Sony hopes to continue their collaboration and “strong relationship with Holland and Feige.”

Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: No Way Home sees the return of Tom Holland as the beloved titular wall-crawler, who will now be joined by Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange. The film is scheduled to make its long-awaited theatrical release on December 17.

The threequel will also feature the return of Spider-Man vets Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2) as Doc Ock, Willem Dafoe (Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy), Jamie Foxx (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) as Electro, Thomas Haden Church (Spider-Man 3) as Sandman, and Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man) as once again directed by Jon Watts from a screenplay written by Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers.
