Review of Kathleen Kennedy: Lucasfilm Won’t ‘Forget’ Star Wars Sequel Trilogy Characters

The Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, which encompassed Episodes 7-9 in the Skywalker saga, ended with 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker. However, Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy doesn’t know if we’ve seen the last of the main characters from the films.

Speaking with Empire for their upcoming issue on The Book of Boba Fett Disney+ series, Kennedy briefly spoke about the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy and said that the company has not forgotten about it. “Certainly, those are not characters we’re going to forget,” said Kennedy. “They will live on, and those are conversations that are going on with the creative team as well.”

While the Sequel Trilogy didn’t receive the praise that Lucasfilm was likely hoping for, it did establish some incredibly interesting characters. Unfortunately, it’s unknown at the moment if any of the big three — Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, or John Boyega — stars of the Sequel Trilogy would welcome a return, especially with their own careers continuing to take off.

Currently, Star Wars is set to return with The Book of Boba Fett on Disney+, which sees the return of Temuera Morrison as he reprises his fan-favorite space bounty hunter role as Boba Fett, who was last seen by Star Wars fans during the post-credits scene of the second season finale of The Mandalorian. The series will be executive produced by Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, who are reportedly trying to adopt Marvel Studios’ successful MCU format.
