The documentary — which was shot following the artist’s release from prison in January 2019 — chronicles DMX’s journey as he looks to return to the world of touring with his music. Along the way, the documentary also looks to be interviewing people who are both friends and fans of the late rapper, as well as focusing on DMX’s own issues, including his business, family, and more.

Judging by the trailer of the documentary, it seems as if DMX: Don’t Try to Understand will mainly focus on the year following DMX’s release from prison. It’s currently unknown just how long the crew was filming for. DMX passed away earlier this year after suffering a heart attack.
