Review of The Matrix Resurrections Trailer Brings Neo and Trinity Back to the System

Warner Bros. Pictures has finally unveiled the first official trailer for Lana Wachowski’s highly-anticipated The Matrix Resurrections, teasing the return of franchise stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.

The Matrix Resurrections trailer, which you can check out below, features Neo and Trinity living separate lives inside The Matrix as they both seemingly don’t remember each other and their previous experiences outside the system. It also highlights the introduction of new characters such as Jessica Henwick, and Yahya Abdul Mateen II, who definitely gives off Morpheus vibes as he and Henwick’s character try to make Neo remember who he really is.

Originally scheduled for a May 21, 2021 release, The Matrix Resurrections is currently slated to arrive in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22, 2021. Its theatrical release date will pit the fourth installment against 20th Century Studios’ long-delayed prequel The King’s Man.

Lambert Wilson and Daniel Bernhardt are also reprising their respective villainous roles of The Merovingian and Agent Johnson.

Joining them are franchise newcomers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Jessica Henwick, Neil Patrick Harris, Toby Onwumere, Christina Ricci, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who is rumored to be playing young Morpheus.

The Matrix Revolutions was also the first film ever to release simultaneously in every major country at the same hour around the world.
